Embracing Your Role in God’s Kingdom

Embracing Your Role in God’s Kingdom

John F. Kennedy’s iconic phrase, “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country,” resonates deeply with the Christian concept of service. As Believers, we must ask ourselves: “What type of Believer am I?” “Am I a passive Observer or an active Participant in God’s work?”

A true Believer is not content with merely attending Church services or claiming a title. Instead they seek opportunities to serve God with their heart, talents, and resources. They understand that service is not limited to Clergy or Church Leaders but it is a lifestyle that every Believer can adopt.

The Parable of the talents in the Book of Matthew 25:14-30 serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of using our gifts and abilities to serve God. The servant who hid his talent in the ground rather than investing it, exemplifies the consequences of neglecting our responsibilities to serve.

To serve effectively, one must be:
1. Focused: Avoid distractions and stay committed to the task at hand.
2. Humble: Recognize the value of others’ contributions and be willing to learn.
3. Spiritually sensitive: Discern God’s leading and understand the importance of confidentiality.

While service can bring challenges including mockery, accusations and scrutiny, the rewards are immeasurable. Service activates blessings, allowing us to experience God’s favor and grace.

The journey of service begins with a decision. Once we make up our minds to serve, God’s grace enables us to navigate the path ahead. As the harvest is plentiful but workers are few, we are called to rise up and stand in our place of service. Let us heed the call to service, embracing our roles as active participants in God’s kingdom. With grace abounding, we can make a meaningful impact in the lives of others and bring glory to God. Rise up Brethren and stand in your place of service. Great grace abounds.
